The parish church of the Holy Spirit
The oldest church in the village, parish church of the Holy Spirit was built in 1548 and was rebuilt in baroque style in 1640. The beautiful bell tower of the church of the Holy Spirit, built in a style typical of Korčula’s masters, was finally erected in 1680. It is specific in that it is built next to the church, not against the church, which is otherwise the practice. The church has five altars. On the main altar there is an early Gothic statue of the Virgin Mary with Child. The statue (11th/12th century) is unique in Europe because it is one of a kind, coated with silver and gold and has not been previously painted. Today, this statue is exhibited at exhibitions all over the world. There are also three graves with inscriptions in the church.
