Famous Kornati “crowns” are witnesses of geological transformations in the past. The vertical cliffs of the Kornati islands facing the open sea are the most popular phenomenon of this park. The “crowns” represent the surface of a large tectonic defect extending from Istria and ending somewhere in central Dalmatia (perhaps south), causing the global movement of African continent to the north and its “staggering” into Europe continent.
The longest “crown” above the sea level is on the island of Man (1350 m), the highest on the island of Klobučar (82 m). The “crowns”, of course, stretch also into the deep under the sea. The deepest “crown” is located on the island of Piškera (over 90 m).
Climbing the “crowns” is not allowed!
